Delicious. We all witnessed history last night. The fight isn’t over, to be sure, but every time she rises to seemingly insurmountable tasks, I become more convinced that she will be an incredible president and world leader!

Agreed! Kamala keeps showing up and getting shit done. Is it fair that she is held to higher standards only because she is a woman? Of course not. But she IS the right person to be our POTUS.

Wish I could site the link, but about 1-2 weeks after the Harris nomination a blogger commented that her presidency will be TRANSFORMATIONAL. Her proposals for child care and early childhood education promise to positively impact millions of families.

Your description, Earl, is 🔥. You masterfully captured the spirit of the event- and of the hope we have in the right candidate at just the right time.

She did handle him… I would go further and say she “MANhandled” him in a most eloquent and deft way - that only a strong woman can do. He’ll never fully recover from this debate.

Perfect! I'll add what Michael Steele said: "she spanked ass" 🤣

We watched the match with our own eyes

Trump shrunk down to half his size

At last he had an opponent who saw

This grifter with so many flaws

His health care plan 9 years in the making

Still unfinished we know he’s faking

In love with Putin Orban and Kim

Harris so deftly defeated him

He calls us a failing nation

He lies and grifts without cessation

On Jan 6 the world did view

Yes Trump the blame is all on you

Blaming Pelosi is your style

So full of vengeance full of guile

Jealous deceitful and a sore loser

Harris did you outmaneuver

And for the finish here comes Taylor

It’s no wonder Trump’s face got paler

"She Handled Him". Perfect. She did indeed. I've said I would be fearful if I had to meet her in a court of law....her prosecutorial skills and calm confidence are fantastic. And now, we absolutely must hunker down and get to work on delivering a smashing victory...up and down the ballot. Great piece, Earl!

Kamala Harris CRUSHED Donald Trump. He was out matched in every phase and on every question. The last time a guy performed this badly in a debate he left the race. Donald, we’re waiting. 🤣

For me the moment Trump's entire persona as any sort of serious man collapsed when he started shrieking about pet eating people. It was utterly strident and completely unhinged. I wouldn't doubt that Trump actually believes that crap is true.

Literally, as this t-shirt says: "Kamala removed stubborn orange stains" last night 👇 🤣

Democracy needed last night's debate after years of Trump induced anxiety. Hope still lives, joy works and we can turn the page!

I love hearing about all of us "who have lost friends, family and sleep during this terrible decade of darkness and hate." When I read those words, I feel less alone. Because remember, not only did the darkness last seemingly forever, but towards the end we were also isolated by Covid. I truly appreciate this celebration of what happened last night because your description of that, too, "names" what I saw but don't have your ability to articulate (which is why I subscribe to you and tell my friends to do also!) Thank you.

Or … or nominate Ms. James to the Supreme Court when Madam Prez expands it! 😉

I am hoping and praying that Madame President comes about. Honestly the fact that this election is even close is so depressing

Expand full comment

Call me a skeptic or a cynic, but I think after all the votes are counted & Harris/Walz come out on top, some day we’re going to learn that the election was NEVER close! Pollsters & corporate media playing little reindeer games!

Jimmy Kimmel posed that question to his audience earlier this week (sic), 'How many here have participated in one of these polls, seriously, is there anyone still answering calls from unknown numbers and if so, should we really respect their opinion?!' 💙

I believe you are right. The media is lying to us about things we see happening.

I don't think it's going to be close at all. I think the energy and power of the time and the candidates and ALL OF US will carry us to a huge victory.

As long as we DON'T STOP!

I really hope this is true, both for my faith in humanity, and also because I Don’t See How This is a Competition. Whatever anyone’s political orientation it’s competent woman v grampa Simpson being elder abused by a bunch of Nazis into running.

I’m relatively optimistic it is true, polling underestimated democrat support in 2022, there are various reasons (landline bias etc) why polls have a pro Republican skew, crappy clickbait Republican polling flooding the zone etc etc etc.

I saw an article on here the other day making the case that R’s love of crappy polls that are positive for Trump will lose the election - because they energise Dems to act, and pacify R’s who often vote on election day anyway, which means any family dramas, inclement weather etc etc are more likely to keep them from the polls if they think they are ahead.

Or Sally Yates, trump fired her as acting AG because she was aggressively investigating him.

Expand full comment

Good point. Either way, it must be a woman, in my humble opinion. Although I would settle for Jack Smith, if he wasn’t so engrossed in the criminal trials of Trump. It’s important that he continues doing that once Kamala takes over.

Expand full comment

Sally Yates would be a perfect choice but I admire Letitia James

Expand full comment

I admire both, I promote Sally because she already had the job and has experience, and the skill set. And I love Ms. James, especially since she is so effective where she is, and doing good work.

Expand full comment

She has done so much to expose the corruption of Trump in the face of horrific abuse from the MAGATs. I am thinking Judge Chutkan - who has done so much to protect the Constitution would be an excellent Supreme Court pick.

What am I doing? I have no legal knowledge. I’m from the U.K.! So many Jurists and AGs have done such great work against Trump, including Jack Smith, Alvin Bragg, Fanni Willis - knowing they were putting their lives on the line.

I don’t know Sally Yates as well as I wasn’t as hooked (as in a car crash) on US politics as I became during the Trumpocalypse.

Cheese! Don’t sell yourself short. You DO know what’s happening to us across the pond. You’re spot on about Judge Chutkan. She’d be an excellent choice. Stay tuned ….!

He even got trolled by German ministers about his claim they were building new coal-fired plants.

"Like it or not: Germany's energy system is fully operational, with more than 50% renewables. And we are shutting down – not building – coal & nuclear plants. Coal will be off the grid by 2038 at the latest," the foreign ministry said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"PS: We also don't eat cats and dogs. #Debate2024"

I saw that too. Not only is it a spectacular fact check on his mis-information about sustainable energy in Europe, it also speaks to the fact that our allies are watching AND THEY DONT LIKE TRUMP. I live in the Netherlands and can attest to the fact that he is a laughing stock, by the way.

Kamala Harris has clearly shown herself to be of presidential timber. Her experience, accomplishments and demonstrated ability to lead makes her as worthy of holding the office as any who have held it and more worthy than most. Her debate performance was brilliant. Donald Trump continues to show that he is narcissistic sociopath, racist and misogynist, who is spiraling deeper into insanity. We have watched his deterioration in real time. He can no longer even present as sane. Still, no matter how high she soars or how low he goes he still has a formidable base. In addition to his racist, misogynist cult base, he still has filthy rich and powerful backers who continue to fund and support him up even as he spirals ever downward. They want his authoritarian policies of tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, anti-union, anti immigrant rights and on and on - read it in project 2025. His diminishing mental capacity is irrelevant to them. With Trump, they see a path to unlimited wealth and unfettered control which, in their touched minds, they so richly deserve. With their continued, unwavering support of a candidate who is criminally insane (I believe), they out themselves as fellow psychopaths. The choice is a democracy run by lucid, sincere, capable leaders who want the best for our country or an oligarchy run by and for power crazed despots. As hyperbolic as it sounds, it is our reality. Which is why Harris-Walz are wisely still running as underdogs. The opposition is rich and powerful but we can and will take them down.
