I grew up in a blue Texas...not so long ago...💙💙💙

Isn't this delightful! TX GOP gerrymandered several districts to consolidate Hispanic support. That support has cratered. A self-own for the ages. iViva Talarico!

Another great point, Ann.

From your lips to God's ears. Go Talarico.

Earl ... my trust in you is implicit. I'll explain why in November ... assuming you're right. You better be right. But I know you will be beyond any reasonable doubt.

D. Earl Stephens ✍️'s avatar

I better be right is right!

Turnout! That is the key.

Unfortunately, a mugshot of Paxton isn’t the clearest indication of a loss. Another convicted felon won the Presidency! So…Texas get out and VOTE.

Ann Anderson's avatar

Yep, Republican voters don't mind a felon or two but Paxton may be a jackass too far. I just sent $ to Talarico!

Christina Johnson's avatar

Me too! And a “jackass too far” is brilliant!

While I am not naive, today I choose to believe Texans voted for Paxton to give Talarico the win, to cause the RNC to divert money to Texas, giving places like NC and Ohio chances.. WR CAN TAKE BOTH HOUSE AND SENATE?

Do not be complacent, we have work to do, but far more possible

I hope so for sure. tongue in cheek, I blame myself for TX, NC an MO going Republican. When I lived in all three states, Richards was gov in TX, I moved to NC and Easley (Dem) was gov, and went to school in MO and we had some Dem legislators and Dem gov in Teasdale. When I left each state they switched from Dems to R's. My bad!

D. Earl Stephens ✍️'s avatar

STOP moving immediately!

TAS's avatar

Lol! I live in CO now that went from R gov in Bill Owens when I moved here to Dems. Maybe I can move around as a magic elixir!

Paxton’s mug shot should be in EVERY visual ad opposing him. You’re right, Earl. The Guardians of Pedophiles just stepped on yet another rake. The senate race is statewide and gerrymandering isn’t going to save Paxton. Getting Cornyn out of the race and replacing him with Paxton has some negative consequences for Texas as well. Charlotte Clymer has the low down on those consequences in her latest column. I urge people to read it and consider the things captain bone spurs didn’t care about when he endorsed the candidate who’s a one man “crime wave.”

God, I hope you're right 🙏🙏🙏

Encouraging report Earl, thank you 🙏💙🕊️

Earl, from your words to God's ears.

I,too, was encouraged that the odious Paxton won the primary. Let’s grab ahold tightly to our optimism for a future positive outcome in the Senate.

Thank you for the proof you continue to provide to give us hope. I am not having a good day at all with this ongoing nightmare shit show called our government. So I am grasping at whatever is available to find hope and retain my damn sanity. All that's left to say is speak up, stand up and VOTE like it's the ballot you cast because it could very well be if the fascist regime maintains control.

Susan Rose's avatar

Like it's the LAST ballot you cast!!!

OMG - said I wasn't having a good day ...

D. Earl Stephens ✍️'s avatar

No worries, I get it!

(Hope things improve.)

Thank you for a bit of positive news. We have an enormous amount of work to do to clean out all the rot at both federal and state levels. How do you feel about the Supreme Court justices being elected by the public rather than appointed by the president?

D. Earl Stephens ✍️'s avatar

I'd settle for term limits, Ilene. But I like the idea of voting even better.

Ilene Winn-Lederer's avatar

Sure, either way would work for me. I’d also like to see age limits and lie detector tests before they were even eligible to run. Actually, lie detector test should be mandatory for all those aspiring to public office.

Susan Rose's avatar

Never really thought about that as a possibility. Sounds like a great idea to me! And while we're making changes, can we please stop talking about getting rid of the electoral system for Presidential elections! And do it! Elections of the People, for the People and by the People!!!

Ilene Winn-Lederer's avatar

Absolutely, Susan. I actually like the British method of electing members of Parliament. It is a very short campaign period which doesn’t leave much time for massive fundraising and other illegal cheating shenanigans.

Most things Republicans & narcissists do back🔥s on them in the end, but I repeat myself.
