I am not only an angry 70 year old, I am feeling pretty damned vengeful. I am apoplectic about the lack of any concept of LEADERSHIP! by the Democrats. WTF?

It has always been thus, but it worsens every year. The cowardice is chilling. I may be old-ish, but we need to get these geriatric now rich-guy placeholders the hell out of the Capitol and deal with the shit show that is now America. Dammit.

Why is everyone so shocked and outraged? This was all written in Project 2025. If a group of people spend 4 years writing a playbook and you think they aren’t going to follow it, well then, you are fool.

We are on our own here. It’s time we stop looking for help and help ourselves. The 99%. The Main Street Americans need to rise up against the billionaire 1%.

Boycott business, yes break up with Amazon! Don’t buy Tesla! Cancelled that subscription to the Washington Post! Call, write, email your elected officials so much that they know your name! Yes, it will be painful but think of the consequences ~ living in a dictatorship. Ask the people of Russia how that is going? Or Cubans? Or the North Koreans? How many Amazon packages are they getting?

What blows my mind is Project 25 was published. Anyone could read it AND there were people sounding the alarm. And yet 77 million people voted for a convicted felon who laid out what he was going to do. And every time one of these white supremacists whines about brown people, I am going to respond their leader released 1500 violent criminals.

As soon as Trump denied knowing anything about Project 2025 people believed him.

I couldn’t get anyone to look at it.

But you are absolutely correct. EVERYTHING Trump,Elon, Vought is doing is Project 2025.

Getting rid of FEMA is Project 2025 so Trump is serious about it.

Key fact:

TRUMP DENIED PROJECT 2025

JD Vance told someone in an interview Rachel Maddow showed that Project 2025 is based on the concept of the “President” being like a “CEO”. Vance referred to “Curtis Yarvin”

Then they make the leap that a CEO is like a “dictator”. It’s the “unified President” idea.

Frankly - as my late father in law was a CEO of an auto company and my first father in law retired as co Chair of another one.

Real CEO’s are held to account for lying - especially if it’s a publicly traded company.

Real CEO’s don’t have immunity.

Real CEO’s also deal with CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS if they lie about their product

Trump lied - he has immunity

but more important - Elon lied. - no immunity.

The guy applying for OMB lied (those two sent out the notices to the Federal employees)

No one authorized this!!!

Treat Elon and the rest of the rich people involved with Project 2025 like the business people they want to pretend they are

- class action sue the fuck out of them for the chaos they have caused.

Trump denied Project 2025.

People voted accordingly

Now they are trying to do Project 2025 anyway

That’s fraud

That’s being a CEO and dealing with responsibility

And catching lies made by CEO’s is a sport for a lot of attorneys. The more chaos, the more people affected, the more the payout.

Who has been involved in Project 2025 and it’s implementation

Thank you, my thoughts exactly. I like Pete, but Dems need to think electability. Playing the gender, race and sexual orientation game just lost the election to Trump. Wake up Dems, how many failures do you need to see the light. There are 330 million other Americans. Any chance one of them might come with less baggage and fresh electability? All we keep hearing is the same old names like Kennedy, Clinton and Harris and now the Trumpsters.

Our nation was founded as a protest against royalty and the rule of a King. Yet every year we get closer and closer to reinstalling another one. No telling how many voted for Trump because wife is attractive. This screams term limits.

We also need stronger anti-nepotism laws so government does not become a spoils system for friends and family.

I keep feeling there's more to the story of Democratic apathy. Some untold backstory about politicians being bought off, or threatened by Trump thugs. It's a very dark paranoia I bring to the narrative, but I cannot otherwise fathom the lack of courage, imagination and sheer outrage on the part of the most powerful Democratic figures.

I promise I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I've read some very compelling articles (with data to back their claims) that there was interference in the election. At this point, whatever. . . we can't do anything about it because there's no Republican legislator with either a brain or a spine who would even consider looking into it. But my question is, HOW do we ensure it doesn't happen again??? WTF do we do to make sure we have even a shred of a chance to take back power from a dictator and his oligarchs? I'm heartbroken, disappointed, and absolutely apoplectic. I just wake up every morning hoping he somehow died. (Not that that would fix things, but I really believe a majority of his followers have loyalty to HIM over party.) Ok so why are we not going after Kamala to tell her to get off her ass and come back and protect and fight for us. I’m guessing she’s hurt, SO ARE WE BUT WE’RE STILL GOING AND READY TO FIGHT. So who is the person to do that! Everyone has to bombard her with emails, text messages and phone calls. Unless there is someone else we want to fight for us. Since we have no leadership right now it’s up to we the people. Let’s go get someone who we believe in. IMHO I believe it’s Kamala unless someone else has a better idea. Then please tell us! We need to pick a leader. Let’s get started instead of complaining and reading about how messed up our party is, which it is. Let’s bombard them with emails, text messages and phone calls. Please if anyone has any suggestions let’s get started.

I love Kamala, her campaign was brilliant and stirring. She was qualified for the role. That said, America does not seem ready for a woman president. When Biden dropprd out, owing to what was at stake--A country, a democracy – – Democrats in power needed to play three-dimensional chess. The move would have been selecting a big personality. A big media-presence Democrat. I hate to say it, a star. What about Gavin Newsom?

Expand full comment

I think the US populace is ready, but too many other things were against the Ds: much of the mainstream press carried the Rs' water, and the D campaign possibly misstepped with some of her alt media appearance choices; the campaign seemed to take a more corporatist tilt rather than sticking with a populist message (including hiding/muzzling Walz); and focusing too much on very few states.

I understand why the campaign visited MI, WI, AZ, etc. so often, but it would not have hurt it at all to reiterate in each speech that Dems in all states needed to vote. I watched a lot of campaign events and heard that as a slogan at best, rather than the "Sit down, shit's getting real, and here's what we all have to do" talk that obviously a lot of Ds needed to hear.

And of course, there was the internal pressure on Biden to withdraw, served up by some of the very people who should have been staunchly countering the R and media claims that he was the mentally weak candidate. I will never forgive nor forget those turncoats.

I went with Kamala because she did come very close and right now she still is a super star if she would just start focusing again and talk to us. Plus that was the older Democrats that were in power, which did not help. We have younger ones with new ideas and energy to back Kamala. Also, all the lies that were being spread had people confused. They didn’t vote or voted the wrong way. I feel we are especially now seeing how many males have failed us ready for a female president. we are so eager to fight we can taste it! I already sent her two emails when she asked for a donation. Boy, did I lash into her (in a good way). I hope she got them. It didn’t say it was not sent:

If, somehow, we don't get rid of the dried up corpses in charge of the D party we will never have any progress or stand-up politicos. As M Twain said 'It's not the size of the dog in the fight...it's the size of the fight in the dog'. And the corporate old tools fight only for their wallets. Nearly the only Ds left who have any balls, ethics, compunction are the 40 somethings who can see where their future is headed if we continue to refuse to make health ins changes, climate and energy changes, economic changes, PAC/dark money changes, foreign policy changes. And nothing will change with 'leaders' who won't confront the rot inside the D party and the destruction being instituted from the WH. For the life of me, I don't understand the prostrate position the D's are assuming. I'm not totally surprised, though, because they could have fought harder for change during the last 4 years. Yes, there were big economic/jobs/energy bills - but what about the issues that determine how we live day to day? especially medical insurance, income inequality, minimum wage - they hardly, and ineffectively, fought back against t***p's 4 years of campaigning/lying/bs. And we wonder why we lost. MAGAs responded to t***p's 'sympathy' that they weren't where they thought they should be in life by offering up minorities to blame and all stewed together with copious doses of ignorance, gullibility and anger. How did Ds respond to that? with real policies that would make a difference? I don't remember any. With vehemence like Michelle offered at the convention. I don't remember any. We should have a '28 Pres candidate out there on the campaign trail right now, deflecting attention from and angering the orange a-hole instead of hunkering down and hiding in bunkers and offering up piss poor excuses for their past failures.

That note has gotten by far the most likes and restacks I’ve ever racked up here. It’s still bouncing around in the Substack ether. There is an absolute craving out there for Democratic leaders who can exhibit some authentic spine, fire, and passion.

With you 100%, Earl. My concern, as I mentioned in a previous post, is that our “tent” has, maybe, gotten too big. From progressives to right leaning “centrists” who want nothing more than for everything to remain the same – for them. The extremes of ideology we try to encompass severely limits any kind of cohesion or unity. Our current party leadership most definitely falls into that centrist mentality.

Maybe it’s time for a party divorce. Or, at the very least, the party leadership stands up and proudly declares exactly what core issues it stands for. Party members can either identify with the stance or leave. We can’t be all things for all people. You’ll never get true, progressive legislation as long as we have the Manchins and Sinemas – and their kind of thinking will always be with us to water down forward-thinking actions that actually helps people.

Fat chance of that happening. It is all about the money which unfortunately T knows how to use its power. He has a Midas touch to get other peoples money into his pocket. We need to change Crypto to Klepto coin. Who needs tax cuts when you can bypass the tax system altogether. IRS has no tools to monitor. They even ask you on your tax forms to declare it, HAH.

Dems not allergic to money, they out spend Repubs. They pissed away $billion and begging for more to pay for worthless services to friends. This validates Repubs claim... give Dems all the money in the world and they still could not solve problems. All they know is spend, spend, spend. Bigger the problem, more money needed.

Student loan forgiveness, screaming example. Attempt to buy votes and not solve the real problem. The more forgiveness the higher tuition becomes. Feed the beast and it wants more. What about limiting student loans to one year and making colleges use their endowments to fund student loans. As for those not paying, they report to the local military recruiter for duty. No more free lunch.

You cannot buy enough votes to win. You have to appeal to both sides of the American divide to win. Dems need to stop trying to pickpocket the rich to incentivize the poor to stay that way.

Seriously Dems need to change how you look at poverty. Where is the outrage against the crime and drugs on the street. Whatever happened to individual responsibility. Sick and tired of hearing how murder is excused because they were on drugs or have some mental issue. I live in a state where every day another crime is committed by a serial criminal with a long rap sheet. Appears you get a discount for the more crimes you commit.

They replied it was not within their purview. I wrote governor and local reps. Response was blanket thanks. Government here only wants to do as little as possible. They are more interested in feel good issues. Just spend billion on fish rights. But ask them to fix something immediate and they will find all kinds of reasons to duck.
