After 79 years in North Jersey, I moved to Northern Virginia in August. While I miss NJ pizza and bagels and family, it is a very successful move. In July we will be leaving a rental house and moving into a senior community probably for the rest of our lives. It is a good way to spend the last quarter.

Earl it is your old friend Mary Sadler who found you on Twitter a lifetime ago and never let go. As you know I am a 18 year retired Delta flight attendant who is writing a memoir about flying and family. What a thankless task that is as a resistance activist like you are. We could be ying and yang twins Earl. They all continue to be in denial day today. Earl I have moved 22 times to 7 states and have worked in or visited 47 out of 50 states. My phone will write anywhere. I hope the best outcome for you and your wife. I think you have one or two kids overseas. Love to you and all of yours. Don’t throw out your papers Earl. DO NOT!!!!!🥰

Best of wishes for your move Earl. I always hated moving from base to base, and then from house to house. I lost so much in each move. I did keep copies of the papers I published though. Someday my kids and grandkids will get a chance to see them. Some things you can't leave behind!

My oldest brother retired as a Lt. Commander and moved multiple times since he joined the Marines in 1969 then joined the Navy in OCS in Providence, RI. I always admired his exactly 4 plates, 4 cups, 4 pieces of silverware, etc. and little else. He could move in an afternoon with a few boxes. Lifetime renter.

Now, that is a cat to be taken seriously. What a sprawl. Stay safe in your travels.

No matter how screwed up the world may be.. to see my cat sleeping peacefully brings a sense of tranquility and purpose. Each day after I get up, my cat comes in and takes my place. Taping up the cat hair is a chore I am honored to perform.

I hope you are saving your Stars and Stripes as they are irreplaceable and they are who you are. Safe travels with The Monkey as I am not sure how cats are in cars but have been told by others not as easy as a dog. Yank you for all your articles. We are all going to be excited to see your return when you get settled.

My mantra is: Feel the fear and do it anyway.

And there is another: Whatever happens I will handle it. You go boy! How exciting for you.

"For the past few weeks I have been living with the mantra: “When in doubt, throw it out.”"

Absolutely. Your decisions will come with regret, but there will also be relief that you're no longer burdened with whatever it was. I got rid of my professional library when I made my last move 10 years ago. There are a few books I bought again when I discovered I wanted to share the ideas with others, but for the most part, I'm happy not having another room filled with academic books and articles (I did keep the ones I wrote!).

I threw away over 400 pounds of law books on a move in 2006. Great decision.

Hugs and kisses to Monkey, warm wishes for your safe travels with your wife.... take your time and be careful on your journey, lots of "unwell" people are roaming about....

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts, we need the support. 🙏💙🕊️🐾

I'm not sure Monkey is doing as much work as you and your wife! Please be careful driving down, weather down this way is strange. Went from the 70's and then wind and rain and then sleet and then snow. This was yesterday.

Haha I can see where Monkey the cat got his name. 🤣

Be careful, and try to enjoy the ride.
